Dewaepenaere, William Joseph
1954 – 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father William Joseph Dewaepenaere.
Born in New Waterford on Aug 3, 1954, he was the son Jean and grandson of Ellen and Gustuve Dewaepenaere.
He was a coal miner at Lingan Colliery for 25 years and a member of Local 92 Laborers Union.
Anyone that knew him knew that he lived his life to the fullest and always had a story to tell with a laugh larger than life. He enjoyed golfing, playing tarbish and was a huge Montreal Canadians fan. In his early days he played many sports including baseball, hockey, and darts.
He leaves behind his daughter Jeannie Varrence ( D.J); son Trevor Dewaepenaere (Des); grandson Brandon Mackinnon; his companion Sue; sisters Barbara (Dan), Tina ( Burt); brother Robert and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
He was predeceased by his mother Jean; grandparents Ellen and Gus, and his sister Linda Campbell .
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Donations in William’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
