Wilfred Mcneil

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, son of Alex & Kickie McNeil (deceased), on Saturday, November 23, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Ulean, son Billy (Lois; New Waterford), and daughters Roberta (Doug; Wheatly, ON), Raylean (Luxembourg), and Susie (Dave; Halifax), as well as daughter-in-law Glenda (New Waterford). He’s also survived by grandchildren Lynsay (Rob); Brittany (Sterling) and Branden; Breanna (Matt) and Brody; Greg (Brittany), Shellynn (Jeff), and Brittany (Dan); and Jess; as well as eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, sister-in-law’s Mary, Audrey, and Debbie (Carl) and brother-in-law’s Tom and Joey. Having worked 28 years for Devco, his greatest pride was the years spent in the military. First, with the Cape Breton Highlanders, then later with the Black Watch completing two tours in Germany; for years, his pride showed whenever he spoke of those days. He had a great passion for walking and skating at the New Waterford Rink. His greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Wilfred (“Wiffie”) Jr. and grandson Chad; brothers Rod and Archie; sisters Myrtl and Theresa; as well as in-laws Mom and Dad Pheifer; Robert and Lynn; Dougie; Helen and Bob; and Marlene (“Lil”, who “was like a sister”). Visitation will be on Thursday November 28, 2019, from 1 – 2 pm. A Chapel Service will begin at 2 pm in the Funeral home chapel, with Father Ray Huntley officiating, followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Donations in memory of Wilfred can be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care. No flowers by request. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500. To send online condolences, go to: www.mclellanfuneralhome.com
