Velma Noreen Deruelle
New Victoria
Mom passed away after a brief illness at the New Waterford Hospital on July 17, 2021.
Born May 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George L. and Margaret (Davies)
Murray.
In her younger years Mom served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the New Victoria
Fire Department, where she enjoyed meeting with the ladies and planning fundraising events.
After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1966, she became involved in the MS Society
for a short time, trying to raise awareness and help raising funds.
Mom devoted all her energy to her home and family, she loved her husband and children
dearly, was an amazing homemaker, even as her MS was progressing, she would never miss a
sporting event, a school function or any celebration that involved her family. We loved her
dearly and she inspired us everyday with her fight, strength, and determination.
She is survived by her husband Arnold; children Arnold (Judy), Karen (Lonnie), Wendell (Paula),
Tracy (Susan); grandchildren Kelli, Jaime, Delynn, Lonnie, Jeffrey, Justin, Mitchell, Ethan, Kellan;
Great-grandchildren Trevor, Matthew, Maya, Sydney, Clark, Parker, AJ, Keely, Shealynn, Laurie,
Beau, Hudson.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by brother Raymond, sister Leona.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Burial at a later date.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff on 2nd floor Medical, you were all incredible, also
to everyone who brought food to the house and helped in any way.
Donations in memory of Velma can be made to the MS Society.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer
Ave., New Waterford 902-862-7500.
