It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Valerie, age 60, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New Waterford she was the daughter of Melvin and the late Jean Eldridge.
Valerie is survived by her cherished son Paul (Nikki), who never left her side and her two beautiful grandsons Lukas, age 11 and Nash, age 7, who she adored and deeply loved. She is also survived by brothers Terry (Patricia), Sheldon and her wonderful sister Sherry, who was with her day and night during her sickness, also brother-in-law Danny Lund, nephews Craig, Tyler, Michael (Barbara-Jean), Andrew (Brittany), Ryan (Jill), Kyle and niece Kayla.
Valerie was a valued employee of the Legal Aide staff in Sydney for 35 years where she made many friends, especially her best friend Darlene Shruder.
Valerie was a quiet, kind and private person with strong faith who enjoyed many summers with the family at their bungalow in Mira, especially when Paul, Nikki, and the boys would visit from Fort St. John, BC during their vacations.
As per Valerie’s wishes cremation has taken place and no visitation. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Ave. with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown followed by a luncheon at the parish all, Convent St. All are welcome.
