Thomas 'Tommy' Crawford

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather Thomas Crawford on November 25, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Thomas and Clara (Gillis) Crawford. Tommy had worked for Ford at the Oakville plant in Ontario for 7 years. He also worked at the Stag & Doe Tavern for many years. In his earlier years, Tommy was a part of the Sea Cadets and he played baseball with the Hawks. He was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club as well as the Army, Navy, Air Force Unit 217. Tommy was a person who enjoyed music and it showed as he loved playing his guitar. Tommy is survived by his daughters Karen (Troy) MacLeod, Tracy (Ricky) Lee, Lana (Patrick) Lamey, New Waterford, Natalie Walker, Cold Lake, sister Jessie Fitzpatrick, Red Deer, Alberta, brother Doug ‘Tuddy’, Ontario and his only surviving aunt Sister Gertrude Caroline (Gillis), Wellsey, Mass. He is also survived by his grandchildren Katelyn, Emily, Stephen, Christopher, Abbeylyn, Claire, Taylor, great-grandchild Aiden, brother in-law Wilfred Hurley Sr. and sister in-law Frances, as well as many very special Nieces and Nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Margie, brother Hughie and brother in-law Paul Fitzpatrick. Following Tommy’s wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family burial held on Friday with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.
