Thomas Clifford Mason

It is with heavy hearts and trusting hands that the family of Thomas Mason released him to the Lord God. Tom or Tommy, as he was known by all who loved and knew him died peacefully on March 5, 2015. Born in New Waterford,he was the son of the late Clifford and Margaret (Lee) Mason. Tommy worked in the coal mines for 39 years, he was a dragger man and a member of the rescue team that responded to the #12 Colliery fire on March 3, 1973. He played in men's dart leagues, was an avid hunter and tarabish player and loved playing cards with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary (Yuhasz), daughters Lee Mason, Brantford, Ont., Betty (Kevin) Pastuck, Enfield, NS, Maddy (Kevin) MacNeil, New Waterford, Donna, Beaumont, Texas, Lana (Garry) Johnston, Calgary, Mary Julia, New Waterford; his only and special son Tim (Brenda) Brantford, Ont. Tommy was very close to his children and his 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who will miss his joking manner, big smile and tender heart. When we think of him we will picture him laughing with family and friends, during all the happy times spent at our family campsite on Sangaree Island. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother Julia, as well as many aunts and uncles.
