Sylvain "Cat" Brenna

It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Sylvain Michael (Cat) Brenna at the age of 69. Sylvain passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, September 12, 2018. Born in New Waterford on March 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Sylvain and Violet (Cameron) Brenna.
Sylvain is survived by the love of his life of 43 years, Pierrette (Desnoyers); son, Alex (Susan); daughter, Barbara (Brian); sisters, Lorrine and Betty (Wayne); brothers, Tony (Judy), Jerry, Phonse (Marion), Donald (Margret Ann); his precious grandchildren, Devin (Jessica), Cody (Kayla) and Cassidy. As well as two beautiful great-grandchildren, Emerson and Natalie. He will also be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. Also left to mourn are his beloved dogs, Digger, Sophie and Lola.
Throughout his life Sylvain was a fisherman, Iron Worker, Laborer (Local 92), he was also a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club. Sylvain was known to almost everyone in the community not only for the kind man he was but for the stories he would tell. He always expressed that he was the richest man on earth because of his family he had and no amount of money could buy that! He was a friend to many and loved by all
In addition to his parents, Sylvain was predeceased by his sisters, Carmel, Germaine and Bugsy; brothers, Johnny, Henry and Eddy; father and mother-in-law, Edouard and Marie.
Cremation has taken place, visitation will be held Saturday, September 15 from 2-4 p.m. at McLellan’s Funeral Home followed directly by a Celebration of Life in the funeral home chapel, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500. All are welcome to join Sylvain’s family at a reception at the K.O.C Plummer Avenue, immediately following the Celebration of Life. Memorial donations in Sylvain’s memory can be made to Loaves and Fishes.
