Shirley Leadbeater

On March 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, God called home our beloved mother, Shirley Leadbeater. She is now reunited with the love of her life, our Dad Baldy. She was the chosen daughter of the late Allan and Christie MacDonald.

Mom spent most of her career at Maple Hill Manor caring for the elderly, a job she truly loved.
In her early days, she was an avid bowler and dart shooter, often reminding us of her perfect score (180) in the Friday night mixed dart league at the K.O.C. It was at the K.O.C. where she developed lifelong friendships with the girls. (Doreen, Joanne and Shelly). Mom enjoyed the simple things in life: small pleasures, good friends, a good Rock n Roll song and Dad leading her around the dance floor. They truly were amazing to watch. Her happiest days were spent camping in Hays River and up until recently, Elenville. Her camping friends quickly became our family.

Shirley is survived by her three children and their families; Roger (Candace), Wendy (Eddy) and Pauline (Chuckie); her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Adam (Meghan), Justin, Marissa (Troy), Miranda (Jeff), Keith and Amanda; sisters, Tricia, Bobby; brother, Robert (Bobby).

Besides her parents and our Dad, she was also predeceased by her chosen family, John and Marie Leudy; sisters, Laurie, Jean, Carol, Nita; brothers, Johnny and Tony.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 from 12 to 2 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Parish of Saint Leonard with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a reception at the Army/Navy & Airforce Unit, Smith St., all are invited. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 902-862-7500. To send online condolences go to: www.mclellanfuneralhome.com
