It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother Sarah “Sadie” Nearing, on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in New Victoria, she was the daughter of the late Margaret MacIssac. Sadie had worked at New Dawn Home Living as a caregiver. She was a very kind person that loved to help people. She liked to Cook, enjoyed bingo, and loved gardening. She is survived by her sons Michael (Dana) and Francis, both of Sydney; daughter Mary, Sydney and sister Mary Robson. Sadie is also survived by grandchildren Mike, John, Logan, Kelsie, Josh, Steven, Jack, Matthew, Robbie, Shera, Sarah, Vicki, Reign, Mike, “Special Granddaughter” Lola, and a special friend Harvey. As well as 10 great-grandchildren. Besides her mother, she is predeceased by her husband Ernest Nearing, daughter Linda Louise and son David. Cremation will take place after visitation. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from 5-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 1 p.m. in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by a luncheon at the Parish Hall, Convent St., New Waterford. All are welcome. Burial will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. Donations in Sadie’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Palliative Care.
