Sarah Ann Sampson

It is with very heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Ann Sampson, 87, at the Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford on Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Born and raised in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Perfect) MacLeod. Sarah was a loving mother and wife who enjoyed playing cards, bingo and doing crafts. She was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club. Sarah leaves to mourn her passing her loving daughter, May (Ray Burns) Sampson, New Waterford; sisters, Theresa Hannigan, Glace Bay, Agnes Chaisson, New Brunswick; brothers, Charlie (Tootsie) MacLeod, New Waterford, Josie MacLeod, Glace Bay. As well as her four loving grandchildren, Janice (Keith) Reid, Toronto, Tommy Blanchard, Richie (Patricia) Blanchard, both of New Waterford, and Mary Blanchard-Kelly, Glace Bay. She we will be sadly missed by her eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Roberta, Charles, Katlyn, RJ, Natasha, Sara, Cassandra and Matthew; her special sister-in-law, Marge MacLeod; along with numerous nieces and nephews . Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph 'Lanky' Sampson, sister, Martha Brown, and brothers, Eckie, Elisa, Howie and Joey. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place, as requested under the care and direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 30 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. A luncheon will be held in Sarah's honour immediately following at the Parish of St. Leonard's hall, 310 Convent St., New Waterford. All are welcome. Donations in Sarah's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
