It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our mother, Sadie Kennedy on July 12, 2017 at the age of 100, in the Palliative Care Unit of C.B.R.H.
Sadie enjoyed her long and happy life. Her deep faith and trust in the power of goodness enabled her positive attitude toward everyone. Anybody who met her admired her kindness and wisdom and never forgot her. She loved company at any time but perhaps had a special love for the tarbish company every evening.
Nanny Sadie will be sadly missed by her 22 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren who loved to visit her often. Long life did not diminish her zeal to keep interested, informed and welcoming to all her family and friends.
Sadie is survived by her son John (Sondra), Alex (Dolores), Paul (Pam), Steve (Elizabeth), Archie (Bev), Joe (Rhonda); her daughters Helen and Sr. Dolores and daughter in-law Pricilla and her sister Chris.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Neil; son Neil “Deets”; her daughter Christina; her brothers, sisters, brother in-laws and sister in-laws; great-grandson Johnny; infant great-granddaughter Sondra and infant great grandson Decklyn.
Visitation will be at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500 on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 2-4, 7-9. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue on July 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery. Reception will follow the liturgy at the parish hall, Convent Street.
We wish to thank the En Cala Unit of the C.B.R.H who tended to mom with tender care. Sadie was lovingly cared for at home for several year by Cape Breton Home Care workers. Also Sadie’s grandchildren took complete charge of her care while in hospital day and night.
