Ronald "Ronnie" Richard Smith

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald “Ronnie” Richard Smith at the age of 72 at his home in New Waterford on Sunday, August 11, 2019. Born in Inverness, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Copan) Smith.

Ronnie worked for DEVCO as a miner and a railroad worker. He lead a simple life while enjoying a good laugh, his visits to Tim Hortons, sitting on the park bench socializing with his friends and his meals at his favorite restaurants.

Surviving are his brothers, Henry (Melita), George (Cathy), New Waterford, Glen (Evelyn), and his sister, Sadie (David MacLean) Glace Bay; Also his sister-in-law, Anna Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Douglas, Jackie and Alexander (Alex); sister-in-law Ruthie Smith as well as two brothers in infancy.

We would like to thank his special friends, Donnie and Kim. Also, Dr. Bridgette Lowry and the VON for all their kindness shown to our brother.

As per Ronnie’s wishes, there will be no visitation, only a family graveside service at Union Grove Cemetery with Reverend Duncan Roach officiating.
