It is with great sadness the family wish to announce the passing of Raymond “Ray” Burns on May 15, 2015 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Michael and Sarah
(Kendall) Burns.
He was a coal miner for 32 years, worked on the railroad, and drove taxi for many years. In his earlier days, he played baseball and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ray is survived by his partner of 28 years, May Sampson, only child Raymond Jr. (Ruth), two foster children Earl and Helen Chipman and brother Michael “Pepper”, sisters Jackie (Arthur) and Caroline, his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was a father image to Janice (Keith), Tommy (Alice), Richie (Patricia) and Mary (Kerry)
Besides his parents, he is also predeceased by his wife, Joyce (Warren), sisters Florence, Teresa, Marion and Mary Ellen, brothers John, Mike, Andrew , Frankie And Mick.
Keeping with Ray’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 4 P.M officiated by Rev. Duncan Roach.
