Norma Violet Fraser, 78 of Sydney, NS died peacefully at the CBRH on December 8, 2015 surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Ingonish to Henry and Catherine (Hardy) Roper on August 22, 1937.
Norma worked her early years in Sydney at MacCurdys. She later moved to New Waterford and worked at the Midtown Pharmacy for 25 years and she volunteered at the Maple Hill Manor Ladies Auxiliary spending the last 5 years as president.
Norma’s pride and joy in life were her children and grandchildren. Her undying love, devotion and support never wavered. She loved spending time with her family, hearing stories from her grandchildren, and visits from her friends.
She will be sadly missed by her son David, his wife Anna and grandsons Matthew and Liam; daughter Debbie and grandsons Randy, Nolan, Daniel and their father Millan; daughter Dayle, her husband Byron and granddaughter Kathryn; sisters Stella Hardy and Winnie MacIver, many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Ronald (Rannie) of 48 years who she cherished dearly.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11am followed directly by a chapel service at 12pm in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Norma fought a courageous battle with cancer for eight months. The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses on 4C, Palliative Care Unit, Cancer Center, and the physicians for their kindness and care to our mom during her final days.
