Mona Ann Harris - Kanne
It is with deep sadness that we the family of Mona Ann Harris-Kanne announce her peaceful passing on May 20, 2020 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 27, 1947 in O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Elga (Buchanan) Harris.
At the age of 19, Mona met and fell in love with her husband Fred. They were married on April 3, 1967 and recently celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Mona was a homemaker, as well as the warehouse manager for CVC services of Burnaby, BC, at the Vernon Army Cadet Camp. She was responsible for controlling the dispersal of foods for 1450 persons dining in five different locations. She loved spending time outdoors, viewing and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, as well as embroidering and going for long drives. Mona loved doing community work. She was a long - time member of the Army, Navy and Airforce, and a Cub and Beaver Leader at various locations throughout Canada.
Mona is survived by her loving husband Fred; son Mark (Katherine) of Summerside, PEI; daughter Paulette Jacqueline (Chris) Purdy of Kamloops, BC; grandchildren Braden, Amber (Dan) Garreck; sisters Paulette (Dwight), Laura (Wayne) both of PEI; brother Donald (Irma) of Alberta; very close friend Debbie Isaacs.
Besides her parents, Mona was predeceased by her daughter Theresa Nicole.
Mona was deeply loved and will be sorely missed my all who knew her.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Mona’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
