It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Melvin Roy Cousins on Wednesday October 25, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born August 7, 1949, he was the son of Roy & Doris (Jewer) Cousins of New Waterford.
He was a quiet man known for his strong family values. A hardworking miner who devoted over 20 years to working underground. He always put his loved ones above all else and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Melvin is survived by his son Jason; sisters Frances (Pat) Doyle and Lynn (Darren) Meery. He will be deeply missed by his four nieces, Michelle, Amanda, Darlene, and Patricia. He also leaves behind a cherished longtime family friend Laurie Carrigan.
Besides his parents he was also predeceased by his wife Jean and daughter Starlette, whom he now joins in eternal peace. His passing leaves behind a void in the hearts of those he held dear.
Melvin Roy Cousins led a fulfilling life full of hard work, love, and dedication. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and unwavering commitment to those around him. As we say our final goodbyes to Melvin, let us remember the legacy he leaves behind - one of love, and strength.
As per Melvin's wishes there will be no funeral service, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of McLellan Funeral Home 3188 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford. A private family graveside service will take place.
