Margie MacDonald74, Glace BayIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Margie (Higgins) MacDonald on Jan. 6, 2011, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital at the age of 74.Born May 13, 1936, in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Mary Sis MacPherson Higgins and Michael Higgins.Margie enjoyed singing, spending time with the sick and infirmed. Margie worked for years at Glace Bay Miners Museum Restaurant as hospitality host. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and telling stories. Margie was a member of Christen Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses.Margie is survived by daughters, Donna Tracey (Charles), Kathleen Bates (Paul), Eileen Richardson (Robert); and son, Michael (Janice); grandchildren, Michelle, Dwayne, Billy Joe and Brittany; great-grandchildren, Haley, Brandon, Tyler and Connor. She is also survived by stepdaughters, Ruth (Eddie), Olive (Normie); stepsons, John (Barbra), Malcolm (Cathie), Patrick (Bud); stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren, Muriel, John, Krystal, Malcolm, Erin, Diana, Lisa, Eddie, Denise, Kathy, Coady, Connor, Logan, Bria, Naknya, as well as many special nieces and nephews; sister, Betty MacDonald and brother, Johnny Higgins.Besides her parents, Margie was predeceased by husbands, Aloysius Bates and Malcolm MacDonald, brother, Melvin Higgins and son, John Derrick.At Margies request there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A funeral service to celebrate Margies life will take place Thursday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Christen Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, 257 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
