Madonna Marie VanDoninck
It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Madonna Marie VanDoninck, announce her passing on October 14, 2021, at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford. Born in New Waterford, on June 15, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Will and Adele (Muise) Luedey.
Donna was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, neighbour, and friend. She worked many years as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at the New Waterford Hospital, and Maple Hill Manor. She was an avid lover of animals, especially cats and dogs. Donna was also known for her skills as a tole painter.
She was an advocate for senior care, and cared for many elderly people in their homes, after she retired from the manor. Known to everyone as a kind, caring person, Donna loved to socialize and laugh with friends. She enjoyed music of all kinds, especially fiddle music. She would often recall fondest memories of days spent camping in Margaree Forks.
Donna is survived by her son Bernie (Mylene), grandchildren Cooper, Harrison; brother William (Diane); sisters Judy Gillibrand and Patricia Acton; son-in-law Murdo Messer.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Bernie, daughter Helene, brothers-in-law Tom Gillibrand, Ken Acton, Johnny VanDoninck.
Cremation has taken place. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 1 pm, for both Donna and Bernie (July 21, 2020) with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Masks as well as proof of Covid double vaccination are mandatory. Interment will be in Mount Carmel cemetery, followed by a reception at the Army, Navy, Airforce on Smith Street.
Donations in Donna’s memory can be made to the Ovarian Cancer or Alzheimer’s Society.
