Lillian Theresa Bates

With heavy hearts, we wish to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Theresa Bates. Lillian went to her eternal reward on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at the age of 87 years. Lillian's home was at 2856 Roaches Rd., where she resided with her stepdaughter, Carmella (Paddy) MacDonald. Left to mourn her passing are sons, John (Yvonne) Gillis, Ronald (Jean) Gillis, Raymond 'Muns'Gillis, stepdaughter, Carmella (Paddy) MacDonald; sisters, Mary Morris and Shirley Rupp; step daughter-in-law Marilyn Bates; grandchildren, Blair, Bradley, Lorell, Stephanie, Shaina, Raymond Jr., Tammy, Laura and Ronnie and step grandchildren, Kelly Ann and Kenny Jr. Lillian was predeceased by her parents, William Parrish and Rose (Deveaux) Parrish, her husbands, Ronald Gillis and Ambrose Bates, a daughter, Margaret Rose in infancy and a son, Gerard (Jed), stepson, Kenneth Bates Sr., brothers, MacLean and Charles Parrish, sister, Muriel Gray and granddaughter, Rhonda. Lillian was a kind soul who enjoyed a game of cards and an evening at bingo. She was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club and a past member of the Mt. Carmel CWL and the New Waterford Hospital Auxiliary. Lillian will rest at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford on Monday, Aug. 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral Mass celebrating Lillian's life will take Tuesday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard's, Mount Carmel Avenue, New Waterford with Fr. Douglas MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A luncheon in Lillian's honor will be held immediately following in the Parish Hall , 310 Convent St., New Waterford all are welcome. Donations in Lillian's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice.
