Joseph Peter Hogan

It is with great sadness that family and friends regret to announce the sudden passing of Joseph Peter Hogan on Sunday October 20th at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford on March 31st, 1948, he was the son of the late Louise (Brenna) and Cyril Hogan. Joey spent most of his life in Toronto, relocating to the Harbourstone Enhanced Care facility in Sydney in 1999. He is survived by his son Rodney (Gwen), cherished granddaughters Kierra, Abbey, brother Ed (Nancy) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Henry, Gus, Dennis and sister Ann Louise and soul mate Ruby Walsh. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford 862-7500. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A celebration of Joey’s life will take place on Wednesday October 23rd at 2:00 pm at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Parish of Saint Leonard Hall, Convent Street. Donations in Joey’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
