It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Jay Kearney on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Layton) Kearney.

Jay’s work ethic was unmatched as he was manager of Harveys in Sydney for 35 years. He was a great provider for his family, as well as being very kind and generous to them and his friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Lythia Kearney, son Mark , Sydney, Jay (Juanita), Mira, daughter Tara Kearney, New Waterford, sisters Margaret Ann (Donald), New Waterford, Cornelia (Ibro), Montreal and grandchildren Avian, Ryan, Koraleigh, Chaz, Drayis and Shardayah. He is also survived by his step-daughters Holly Darling, Heidi Darling (Steve) and Caitlin Darling, sisters in-law Tina Kearney, Domatilia (Joe) Beaton, Willena (Leo) Long, Claudia (Wayne) and Sheila (Joe), brothers in-law Joe Burke (Sandra), Winston Burke (Angie), Michael (Sharon) and Robbie (Lee), also many nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by his fur baby, Hershey.
Besides his parents, Jay was predeceased by his first wife Diane Fraser, brother Layton, sister Marie, father and mother in-law John A. and Ursula Fraser, father and mother in-law Joseph and Irma Burke, brothers in-law Henry, Rick, and David Fraser, sister in law Alana Fraser and niece Alana.
Cremation has taken place. A chapel service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Father Ray Huntley officiating, with a luncheon to be held at the K.O.C. Hall, Plummer, Ave. All are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
