John Daniel Blewer

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Danny Blewer on April 1, 2012, at the Victoria Haven Nursing Home, Glace Bay, N.S. He lived most of his life in Scotchtown, but most recently resided at the nursing home. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William and Isabel ‘Bella Jane’ (Fraser) Blewer. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In his younger years, Danny was known to love a good kitchen party with all his brothers. He played the fiddle and enjoyed walking. Danny is survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Danny was also predeceased by his brothers, Duncan, Alex, Freddy, Robert, John in infancy, stepbrother, Kenneth Timmons Sr., sisters Florence and Jessie, both in infancy. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, Plummer Avenue, New Waterford, 862-7500. A private family viewing will take place at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service to celebrate Danny’s life on Thursday, April 5 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating and interment will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Victoria Haven Nursing Home for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Danny while he was residing there.
