It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of their
father, grandfather and brother John “Nipper’ MacDonald, 70 on August 18, 2016.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Angus ‘Judique' and Elizabeth (McMullin)
MacDonald.
Da was known for his immaculate appearance, black shiny boots, hair slicked back with not
a hair out of place. He enjoyed driving around town in his sparkling clean car with his
buddy Patch by his side and he enjoyed the outdoors doing his yard work. He had a gift to gab
and could talk to a stranger for hours, He was a miner for 40 years and was well known for his strong faith in God.
Nipper is survived by son Sheldon, daughters Lisa (Peter) McNeil and Lee Ann; sisters Mary,
Kitty (Jack), Margaret, special friend Betty and special buddy Patch; his five shining stars
which were his pride and joy, his grandchildren Haley, Samantha, John Robert, Tiffany and
Skyla; sisters-in-law Freda, Chris, Laurie, Leah and brother-in-law Dave several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, Nipper was also predeceased by his wife Helena ‘Bugsy’ (Meery),
brothers Sonny, Angie, sisters Betty, Rachael, Frances, sister-in-law Eileen; brothers-in-law Wilfred, Frank, Billy and Garfield as well as many nieces and nephews
Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass to celebrate Nipper’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10 am in the parish of Saint Leonard with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the parish hall, Convent St. All are welcomed.
