James William Hurley

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of James (Jimmy) William Hurley on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Owens) Hurley. Jimmy loved his family immensely and his fun-loving nature was captured by his nickname, Uncle Buck. He will be fondly remembered for his “Woodstock” parties in Marion Bridge and all the laughs and joy he brought to people. Jimmy is survived by his sons, Blaise (Jasmine) and Ryan (James), as well as sister, Elaine; brothers Jerry, Charlie, Wayne, John, Gordie. Besides his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by his wife, Christina, as well as two siblings in infancy. Cremation has taken place, and arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, New Waterford.

A funeral Mass will take place Saturday, January 19th, 2019 at 10am in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment at Union Grove Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the KOC, Plummer Ave. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul food bank or a charity of one’s choice.
