Ivan Herbert Bois

It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Ivan Herbert Bois, 84, of New Waterford on September 4, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ivan was born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick on May 27, 1925 and he was the son of the late Gilbert and Athalie (Morin) Bois. He served in the armed forces in Germany from 1943-1946 during the Second World War. Ivan began as a coal miner in 1947, working in #12 colliery, Lingan Mine retiring from Lingan Phalen Mine in 1989. Ivan mentored in the Joy Program at Mount Carmel School for many years and enjoyed wood working very much. He was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club, where he enjoyed playing darts, pool, and a good game of cribbage. Ivan enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loved watching them play hockey. Ivan leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife, Florence (Doyle) Bois; his sons, James (Angie) Toronto, ON; Gerald (Tena), New Waterford, Robert (Mabel), Surrey, BC; Brian (Claudette) Sydney; Joseph and Michael, both of Toronto, ON; daughters, Patricia, Dartmouth, Sharon (Larry) Laffin, Halifax; brothers, Donat (Natalie) New Brunswick, Lester (Rhonda) Sarnia, ON, Conrad (Phyllis), New Market, ON; sisters, Dorothy, South Carolina, Adeaide, Oshawa, ON, Marie, Oshawa, ON; also his loving 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and many great friends. Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by a brother, Phillip in infancy; his sister, Sr. Geraldine, Order of Sacred Heart. Visitation will take place on Sunday, Sept 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., in McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford (862-7500). A funeral mass celebrating Ivan's life will be held on Sept 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Of Saint Leonard's, New Waterford, with Fr. Doug Mac Donald officiating. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford. A reception will be held at the Parish of Saint Leonard's Hall, 310 Convent St., New Waterford, all are welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ivan's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks to New Waterford Homecare, Palliative Care, VON, Mary and Claudette for their unending support and loving compassion during our difficult time.
