It is with deep sadness that we the family regret to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt Helen Butts on April 19, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John “Jack” and Margaret Rose (Romard) Fitzpatrick. Helen enjoyed the simpler things in life. Her life revolved around her kids and her grand kids. In her later years, she liked going to the casino and playing bingo. The love she had for her family was unmatched. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her and she always had a special love for them. Helen is survived by her daughters Rose Lynn (Melvin) MacDougall, Carrie (Melvin) Beaton and Leigh Ann Butts (Darrell), all of New Waterford, son Brent Butts, New Waterford, sisters Teresa Burke, New Waterford, Mary Margaret McDougall, Ont., and brother Mike (Thelma) Fitzpatrick, Ont. She is also survived by her grandchildren Joey, Troy, Corey, Zachary, Julie, Katie, Breanna, Nolan, and great-grandchildren Eric, Nathan, Brooklyn and Bryden. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Eric Butts, sisters Annie Mae, Pauline and brothers John and Paul. Cremation has taken place. A chapel service to celebrate Helen's life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the McLellan Brothers Chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating, followed by a luncheon in the funeral home. All are welcome. Burial will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
