Gwenyth Rockett
New Waterford

The family of Gwenyth Rockett (Pheifer) is sad to announce her sudden, but peaceful passing, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, October 16, 2021, with her family at her side.

Gwen was a one of a kind; anyone who spent time with her was well entertained by her zest for life. At Victoria Haven she was often fondly referred to as “The Queen”. Gwen lived her life to spend time with her family and friends. Besides family time, Gwen enjoyed “Club Night” for fifty years with the girls, playing bingo, crafting, cooking, and baking. Gwen met and married Raymond Rockett while living in Ontario. Together they returned to New Waterford in 1966 where they raised their daughter Alma.

Gwen is survived by her daughter, Alma (Joey) Pastuck; grandchildren Jennifer and Todd (Rebecca MacCormick); great grandson Ariah; sisters Evelyn Kearney, Ottena (Brian) Murray; sister-in-law Cynthia Pheifer, as well as nieces and nephews.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents John and Alma (Davis) Pheifer; husband Raymond Rockett; sister Dorothy (Len) Bailey; brothers Rudy and John Pheifer, and brother-in-law Raymond Kearney.

A special thank you to the New Waterford Hospital Medical Floor, the Staff of the Victoria Haven Nursing Home in Glace Bay for their excellent care, the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Emergency Department, ICU staff and Dr. Kageden and Dr. Szabo. A heartfelt thank you to nieces Charlene Villa and Nancy Pastuck for their support over the years.

Cremation has taken place. A chapel service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 11am, with Rev. Dorothy Miller officiating. Masks as well as proof of Covid double vaccination are mandatory.

A reception will follow at the Army, Navy, Airforce on Smith Street.
