It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Gwendolyn Evelyn Kendall at the New Waterford Hospital on August 23rd, 2023. Born in New Waterford on June 8th, 1942, to the late Dan and Ella Wadden.
Gwen is survived by her daughter and son; Kelly Kendall and Sheldon Kendall, her 5 grandchildren; Lindsey Kendall, Jordan Kendall, Tyler Kendall (Hazel), Curtis Kendall (Meaghan), and Kendra Doyle (Johnny), and also her two great grand children; Jazlyn Kendall and Remy Walker, her two sisters; Winnie Downey, and Cavell Crow (Charlie) and her brother Gary Wadden (Elizabeth). She will be sadly missed by everyone who lived in the senior’s complex on Saint Joseph Street where she lived for the past 25 years, along with all family and friends.
Besides her parents Gwen was predeceased by her son Darrell Kendall, her life companion partner Bill Boyd, and her brother Willie Wadden. We the family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the New Waterford Hospital on the medical floor for keeping her safe, comfortable and happy for the last of her days.
Gwen was loved by so many in the town of New Waterford, she was well known for her big smile and ability to make anyone and everyone laugh by cracking one of her famous jokes, not to many people who knew her didn’t know her famous line of “I’m short and fat and easy to get at”. She had the biggest sense of humor that paired well with her huge heart and caring soul, she would always be picking up stuff for someone in need or making sure no one went without. Gwen enjoyed going to dances at the Army Navy and in her younger days playing darts and baseball. Gwen always lit up every room she walked into and would instantly brighten everyone’s day. Gwen was an absolute legend to everyone who knew her and its sad to say that no one will ever see these days again.
A Celebration of Life is being held in Gwen's honour, the family will receive relatives and friends at McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, on Tuesday, August 29, from 1-4 p.m. If you so wish donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.mclellanfuneralhome.com or you may sign the guestbook below.
