Glen Mathew Marsh
New Waterford

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Marsh, on February 28, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in New Waterford, on April 19, 1958, he was the son of the late Mathew and Clara (Hennessey) Marsh.

Glen was an icon in the town of New Waterford, where everyone knew and loved him. He put a smile on everyone’s face. He was a fine ‘Special Police Officer’ back in his early days, and if you were lucky, you received a parking ticket on Plummer Avenue. He could always be seen at Muise’s Dairy, Frank Corbett’s office, and the ambulance station. Glen loved spending time with his family and friends, going for coffee, and having a beer. He loved going to his summer cottage in Framboise, spending his days with his dog Maisie, and rocking out to Johnny Cash.

Glen is survived by his sisters Laurie, Joan, Olive (Frank); brothers Joe (Elaine), Adrian (Jane), Wayne; sister-in-law Joyce; brother-in-law Gus. Glen was also survived by his loving MacDonald family where he was raised as a brother; David, Johnny, Robbie, Darren (Janet), Theresa (Walter), Laurie, Vera (Bobby), David James, and all his special nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Besides his parents, Glen was pre-deceased by his sisters Girlie, Leona, Muriel; brothers Brian, Russell, Joseph in infancy; brothers-in-law Dave, Charlie, Alex.

The family would like to thank everyone in the town of New Waterford for all of the kindness shown to our beloved Glen. Donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 11am – 1pm. A private family chapel service will be held at 1pm, with Father Peter McLeod officiating. Masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
