It is with great sadness that we, the family of Germaine announce her passing at home, surrounded by her loving family, on April 30, 2011, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Sylvain and Violet (Cameron) Brenna. Germaine was a kind, gentle person who touched many lives. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She also was a dedicated worker at the Army and Navy bingo for many years. She took great pride in being an Eucharist minister at Mt. Carmel and would also bring communion home to the sick and shut-ins in her neighbourhood. Her friend Margaret looked forward to her visits with communion every week, rain or shine. Her faith in God brought Germaine and her family a lot of peace during her illness. Germaine is survived by her daughters, Amanda (Darren), New Waterford, Vicki, Halifax; and son, Eddie (Jennifer), Sydney; grandchildren, Michael Edward, Melissa, Madison, Ranger and Jeffrey; sisters, Lorrine Williams and Betty (Wayne) Gillis; brothers, Tony (Judy), Sylvain (Pierrette), Phonse (Marion), Donnie (Margaret-Ann) and Jerry ‘Jooky’ (Sis). Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Edward Joseph Henry in 1987, brothers, Eddy, Henry, Johnny, sisters, Carmel, in infancy and Sylvia (Bugsy). As per her request, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass to celebrate Germaine’s life will be held Wednesday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard’s Mount Carmel Avenue, with a luncheon to follow at the Army & Navy, Smith Street. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. Donations in Germaine’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit or the VON. To send online condolences to the family go to www.mclellanfuneralhome.com
