It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dad truly enjoyed his work as a barber for many years in the Sydney Shopping Centre. Once you entered the mall you were greeted by dad's smile and the laughter from his shop. Dad enjoyed hockey and was past president of the Sydney Millionaires and Cape Breton Alpines/Molson Canadian teams. He was an avid bowler for both Sydney and Glace Bay leagues. Dad was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's parish. A devoted family man, dad is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 47 years, Christina 'Myrna' (Boutilier); and his loving children, Francis and Kimberly (Darrell) Cromwell. Poppy found great joy in his cherished grandchildren, Ava and Joshua. Born in Glace Bay, dad was the youngest son of the late John and Margaret (Burrows) Seward. Besides his parents Dad was predeceased by brothers, Tony, Wilfred and John; sister, Georgina (Robert) Mills. Dad is survived by sisters, Martha (Herman) Vringer, Marie Coleman; brother, Gussie (Tootsie) and a special niece, Melody (David) Gouthro. As well as his father and mother-in-law, Ernest and Catherine (Ryan) Boutilier of Sydney. Dad was a treasured husband, supportive father, generous grandfather and a much beloved brother; who will be greatly missed by his family. There will be no visitation as per his request.
