Evelyn Marie Delaney

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Evelyn Delaney, announce her peaceful passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Her family was by her side on February 6, 2015 when she passed. Born in Paragould, Arkansas; Evelyn was the daughter of the late Troy and Claris Sloas of Deming, New Mexico. Evelyn worked for many years at the Maple Hill Manor and loved working with the residents. She enjoyed needle point and her work is displayed in the homes of all her family. Mom loved her grandchildren and Nanny was their world and they were hers. She was a wonderful baker and taught her grandchildren her many skills. Evelyn took great pride in her garden supplying her family with both flowers and vegetables. She is survived by her loving husband Willie 'Sailor' Delaney, children Lisa (Gerard), Clint (Shelia) Lori (John) and Deborah (Grant); grandchildren Kyle, Alisha, Cody, Britnie, CJ, Brandi, Julie, Payton and Thomas. great grandchildren Khloe and Blake. Mom was also survived by her loving sisters Linda of Arkansas, Barbara and Shirley of New Mexico, and brother Gene of Arkansas. Predeceased by a son in infancy and brother Charles. Cremation has taken place. A chapel service to celebrate Evelyn's life will be held on Sunday Feb 8, 2015 at 2 p.m. in McLellan Brothers Chapel with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating, followed by a luncheon at the Parish Hall, Convent St. All are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
