Eleanor Aldwin "Ella" Cummings

It is with deep sadness we the family of Eleanor Aldwin (Ella) Cummings announce her
peaceful passing on May 19, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 26. 1919 in New Waterford to George and Emma (Dobson) Murray, Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mom was employed as a cleaner at Breton Education Centre up until her retirement. She was a talented piano player and enjoyed playing with several bands in her younger years as well as entertaining her family and friends up until her last days with us. Mom was a member of Aging Gracefully, St. Agnes C.W.L. and Ladies Auxiliary of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, also an active member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club and Maple Hill Manor Auxiliary. Mom loved to dance, play darts, 45’s, skate and swim. She also enjoyed a good game of tarabish with the girls. She was an avid baseball fan and rarely missed a Blue Jays game and also enjoyed watching Toronto Raptors Basketball team.

She is survived by her children Sally (Alex Leadbeater) Young, Tom, Sharon (Russell) Roach and Gary (Coleen), daughter-in-law Jean (MacNeil) Cummings. Nana was a loving grandmother to Michael (Beth), Michael (Cindy) Christopher (Miju), Robbie (Melanie), Colin, Sharon (Sean) Higgins, Lenore Jackson, Michelle Roach, Jennifer (Jeff Fraser). Ma/Great Nan was a loving great-grandmother to Chloe and Evan Young, Henry and Ella Maria Cummings, Aaron Cummings, Leah Jackson, Sarah and Madison Tobin, Kaisey and Jeffrey Fraser. As well as several nieces and nephews and loved by her “honorary” grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Michael (Mickey) Cummings,
son Bernie, infant daughter Geraldine, brothers Langtry, Harry and Garfield Murray and sister
Velma Lees and daughter-in-law Donna Cummings.

As per Ella’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 10 am in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mt. Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery followed by a luncheon in the parish hall, Convent St. and all are welcomed. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford 902-862-7500.
