In loving memory of our mom, Donna Fern (McIntyre) Kispal, September 3, 1933-July 1, 2023, wife of the late Joseph Kispal, who passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with family (Joe, April, Kelly, and Pat) by her side, after a brief illness.
Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Ann (MacMullin) McIntyre and worked in various roles over her years but was most proud of her time as homemaker and as a mother to her three children.
Mom is survived by her children; daughter Kelly King and her husband Pat of Miramichi, NB, son Joe and his wife April of Brackley Beach, PEI and daughter Debbie Darch and her husband Gary of Orleans, ON. Grandma will be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren Brianna Grant (Dan) of Kingston, ON, Lara Kispal (Cameron MacMurdo) of Summerside, PEI, Ashley McCauley (Brian) and Chris Darch (Laura) both of Orleans, ON and six great grandchildren Luna, Evelyn, Bridget, Maggie, James, and Ryan. Mom also leaves behind her brothers Neil McIntyre of Toronto, ON & Blair McIntyre of Glace Bay, NS and her sister-in-law Mary MacDonald of New Waterford, NS. She was pre-deceased by brothers and sisters Russell, Wallace, Fabian, Allie, Marcie, Utha and Mary.
Mom was an avid bingo player and Toronto Blue Jays fan, but her greatest source of entertainment was watching curling; it was known by many that the only time not to call mom was during curling games! Mom enjoyed the simple things in life, a hello, a thank you, an unexpected phone call, cards, and flowers! She loved to stay in touch with family and friends and could talk for hours about her children and grandchildren!
The family would like to thank her neighbours on St. Joseph Street, New Waterford, the homemakers, VON, the staff of 3B and 4D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and especially Dr. Meaghan Keating.
The family will receive relatives and friends at McLellan Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, NS on Tuesday July 4, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. up until the time of the service starting at 3 p.m.. With Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating. Burial service will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, New Waterford. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society or a charity of one’s choice. Please visit the Tribute Wall to express your condolences and words of comfort directly to the family.
LEGACY OF LOVE
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in ours hearts, we’ll eternally keep
