It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Claudia Louise Mercer, of Gardiner Mines, on May 30, 2020.

Born in Gardiner Mines on May 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James and Stella (Musial) Travaline.

Claudia graduated from Normal College in Truro with her teaching licence. Over the years she upgraded her licence to a BA, BED and MD.

She taught school at St Agnes in her early years, as well as Sydney and Toronto. She completed her 35 years of teaching at Breton Education Centre, New Waterford.

She loved all of her students and was remembered by many to this day.

Her hobbies included dancing, gardening, and reading.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Ronald and Albert, and her sister Elsie. She is survived by her sister Eleanor, as well as several nieces and nephews.

By request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service and burial will take place at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, officiated by Father Ray Huntley.
