It is with great sadness that we announce Charlotte Victoria (Lalo) Beaton, Age 65, of New Waterford, passed peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2023, on a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by her close friends and family at the Cape Breton Hospice in Sydney. Born in New Waterford, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Cesar Lalo and Mary Christena MacNeil.
Charlotte was truly at her happiest when she was with her family and friends, she had a great sense of humor and loved to have a laugh, so she was rarely seen alone. Charlotte also had a love for music and dancing which she shared with the love of her life Jack, usually the first and last on the dance floor. She would devote most of her day to others, treating everyone like family and ending it by making rounds of evening calls to hear about the day or to check in on family who were away from home. Charlotte was a proud mom who found great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchild, and would take any opportunity to gush over any one of them. Although Charlotte battled cancer for over 3 years, she never once gave up. Charlotte gave new meaning to strength, defying and beating so many odds put before her.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Anthony "Jack" Beaton; sister, Georgina (Chickie) Bennet; and brother, Cesar Lalo. She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Beaton and Melissa (Matt) Lambert; sisters Lizzy (Junior) Bresowar, Anne Marie, Karen, Shauna; and brother Raymond (Colleen) Lalo; adored grandchildren, Matthew and Clara Lambert, Jac (Alix) Beaton and her cherished great-grandchild River Munro.
Special thanks are extended to all the wonderful staff at Cape Breton Hospice, the Cancer Center and Palliative Care Team as well as the family and friends who helped care for her over the years. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 6-9 p.m. in McLellan Funeral Home 3183, New Waterford. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday March 25, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard Church, New Waterford. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery with a reception to follow at K.O.C Hall, New Waterford. You may go to the Tribute Wall at the top of this page to share words of comfort and sympathy to the family. .
Legacy Of Love
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,
Your love in ours hearts, we’ll eternally keep
