It is with greatness sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Charles “Puggy” MacLean on Sept. 27, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Alfred and Bobby (Corbett) MacLean.

Charles worked in the mines for a number of years. He loved to tell jokes and also loved going to Toronto to buy cars.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Myrtle; sons Chuck (Karen), Mark (Mary); daughter Cindy; sisters Linda (Dave), Sharon (Eckie), Darleen; brothers Robert “Yacky” (Joanne), Dale “Mugsy”, Francis “Crow” (Mary), Gerald “Skinny” (Joanne); grandchildren Mark, Kyle, Miranda, Charlie, Brody as well as special aunt Patsy Woodland and special nephew Brousie.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Clifford “Bug”, Freddy, Bernie “Jose” and a sister Shelia in infancy.

Cremation has taken place. A chapel service will take a place on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be held Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Army, Navy & Airforce, Smith Street, all are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association
