It was with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend Charles Joseph Williams. Charlie passed away at the New Waterford Consolidated hospital surrounded by loved ones. Charlie was born in Scotchtown, Nova Scotia.

He was a devoted Catholic who attended mass every Sunday. Charlie loved life and touched the hearts of everyone who met him. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, collecting golf balls while walking the golf course in Ingonish, and meeting new people. His passion was dancing and could jive with 3 women at a time. Charlie was a coal miner in his early years, he worked construction, and later drove delivery trucks. Charlie was a member of the Pensioners Club of New Waterford and a volunteer with the Coal Bowl Classic's Hospitality suite.

He is survived by his special friend and companion Liz Poirier, New Waterford, his #1 sister Mary (Gary Petrie), New Waterford and brothers Ervin (Marion), New Waterford, Archie (Sue), Madoc, Michael (Bernice), New Waterford. His children Susan (Ricky) Rideout, Leitches Creek, Anna and Doug Wall, Howie Centre, Charlie (Marie), Sydney, Darren, New Waterford, Christine (Troy) Williamson, Brampton and stepchildren Jerry (Thelma) Hogan, New Waterford, Wendy (Glenn) Edelenbos, Ontario, Cindy (Junior) MacKinnon, Sydney Mines. Charlie will be missed by his grandchildren Vanessa, Pamela, Stephen, Erin, Thera, Michelle, Nathan, Owen, Lori, Jennifer, Amber, Christopher, Brittany, and Crystal; his special nieces Angela and Stephanie; his 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie was predeceased by his parents Ervin and Angel (LeMoine) Williams, his infant brother Archie, his son Stephen Williams, and his nephews Gary Petrie and David Williams.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the amazing doctors and nurses at the New Waterford Hospital, especially Dr Ajuwon. You were all a blessing during this difficult time.

As per Charlie's wishes, his body was donated to Dalhousie Medical Centre for scientific research. There will be no wake, however, there will be a memorial mass in honor of Charlie in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave, on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C, Plummer Ave., all are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500.
