Carmen Matheson, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, at Celtic Court in Sydney, Nova Scotia, with family by her side. She was born on August 6, 1937, in New Waterford, Nova Scotia to the late John and Loretta (Ross) MacLeod. Carmen was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mom would get up in the morning, apply her ponds skin cream, pink lipstick, don her silver jewelry and her matching outfit then she was good go for the day.  Carmen had a vibrant career and was adored by customers at various retail stores throughout her working years. From T. Eaton Co. to Schwartz, Crowell's to Tabi and Reitman's - all were blessed to have Carmen as their dedicated sales associate. Her keen sense of fashion and eye for detail meant that if you went to her looking for just one item, you would leave with a fully coordinated outfit. Carmen's devotion to her work and her exceptional service made her an unforgettable presence in the retail industry.

Beyond her professional life, Carmen contributed greatly to her community. She was a charter member of the New Waterford Kinette Club and actively involved in numerous social groups and church activities. Her warm smile and compassionate nature touched the lives of many. Carmen found joy in spending time at her bungalow in Catalone and cherished winters with the "Florida Crew." She loved engaging in card games with her neighbors at Jim Mac Court - creating lasting bonds and treasured memories.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Alfred Matheson. Their unwavering love and commitment stood as an example for all those who knew them. Carmen will be dearly missed by their daughter Tanya (Willie McNeil) MacDonald; sons Bruce (Rosanna DiLabio) Matheson of Brampton and Glen (Kim) Matheson of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She leaves behind a precious legacy in her grandchildren Lauren Matheson, Martin Matheson, Kendra Matheson, and Davan MacDonald.

In addition to her immediate family, Carmen is survived by her sister Valerie (Dennis) Chiasson. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Peggy Bingham and Donna (the late Dennis) Power, along with several special nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply.
Carmen is preceded in death by her parents. She is also reunited with her brother Frank (the late Linda) MacLeod and sister-in-law Charlotte (Ed) Simpson.

Special thanks to the staff at Celtic Court in Sydney for their care and concern for Mom in her final days.
