Blaise Stanley Kennedy

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved brother, Blaise S. Kennedy, 70, of Scotchtown on Thursday, May 14, 2009, at his home. Born in Inverness, he was the son of the late John Murdoch and Katie Bell (Chisholm) Kennedy. He was a member of the Parish of Saint Leonard St., Michael's Roman Catholic Church, River Ryan. Blaise was in the American Navy for five years and resided in Boston, Mass. After his naval career he came back to New Waterford where he worked at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for over 20 years as a CNA. Blaise loved Inverness and traditional Cape Breton music. He was a devoted sports fan and especially his beloved New York Yankees and the Washington Capitals. Blaise was a well-respected man with a great sense of humour, which touched a great number of people. Blaise is survived by his two loving sisters, Mary Oliver, Norwood, Mass., and Isabel Kavanaugh, Dartmouth; also surviving is his sister-in-law, Pauline Kennedy, Dominion; along with many nieces and nephews. Blaise will be sadly missed by his dog 'Lucky', his companion and best friend. He leaves behind many a great friend who shall miss his kind and gently spirit. Besides his parents, Blaise was predeceased by his brother, Dave and sisters, Gerry Ryan, Mary Sarah Kennedy, Emma Fraser and Catherine Ann Campbell. Visitation for Blaise will be held from 5-9 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009, at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
