Birthman "Birt" Grace

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Birt Grace on February 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 21, 1947, New Waterford, he was the son of Annie (Benoit) and the late Daniel Grace.

Birt enjoyed playing horseshoes, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time around the hockey rink. He worked as a miner for 25 years in No. 12, Lingan and Phalen Mines.
Birt is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Steiger), mother Annie, daughters Brenda Lee (Trevor) Ropek, Sioux Lookout, Ont., Barbara Ann (David) MacMillan, Trenton, NS; sisters Kay (Donnie) MacGillivary, Carmel (Jed) Miller, New Waterford and Jessie (Dave) Picco, Mira; brothers Dan (Evelyn), Eddy (Betty), New Waterford and Raymond (Debi), Lingan Rd.; grandchildren Gregory, Justin, Emily, Joshua, Benjamin and Nathan; brother-in-law Kevin (Brenda) Steiger; sisters-in-law Anna (Dave) Stephenson and Darlene Steiger, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brother Walter, brother-in-law Lloyd Steiger, his mother and father-in-law Josephine and Damien Steiger.

Cremation has taken place and a chapel service will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial in St. Agnes Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C. hall, Plummer Ave., New Waterford. All are welcome.
