It is with great sorrow and broken hearts, the family announce the passing of Betty Miller on November 28, 2011, at Palliative Care, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Betty was born in Guysborough. She met and married Bill in Ontario and they have just celebrated their 44th anniversary. She is survived by husband Bill Miller (Chick), her pride and joy son, Bill Jr.(Karen), her two grandchildren, Jarrett and Preston, who were the light of her life, mother, Mabel Grady, brothers Earl Grady, Arnold Grady (Beverly), Leilan Grady (Marie), and special sisters Mary Miller, Dr. Lucy Miller (Blaine Maciborsky), Sheila Miller (Jerry McCarthy), and Maureen Miller. Brothers in-law Gervy (Maureen), Greg (Cathy), and Faby (Susan) Miller. She also leaves behind several wonderful nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father, Fred Grady, father and mother in-law, Russell and Ruby Miller, brother in-law, Russell Miller Jr., aunt Viola Grady and nephews, Clayton Miller and Johnny Miller. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Oncology and Palliative Care Units, VON, and a very special heartfelt thanks to Beth Latham, who cared for Betty in such a loving way and became a friend to the family. Funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, December 1st at 10 am in the parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by a luncheon at the Lingan Hall. Donations in memory of Betty can be made to palliative care, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
