Bernie Macdonald

With deep sadness, the family of Bernie MacDonald announce his passing on October 30, 2019. Born in New Waterford on April 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie Mae (Power) MacDonald.

A meat-cutter by trade, he was employed with Hinchey’s Supermarket until his retirement. Kind and gentle by nature, Bernie was a devoted son and brother, a fun-loving uncle and a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be sadly missed.

Left to mourn are his sister Esther MacDonald; seven nieces and nephews and their families, also his close friend and caregiver Daison Oliver.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Doreen (Alex); brothers Douglas (Marion), Cyril (Ann); two sisters in infancy Vera and Catherine and one niece.

There will be no public visitation or funeral. A private family committal will be held in Mount Carmel Cemetery where Bernie will be laid to rest with his parents.
