It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Anna Abraham, on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Anna was married to the love of her life Buddy Abraham (1977) and was the daughter of Charles Boutilier and Nellie (Ratchford) Boutilier of River Ryan.

Anna was a devout Catholic. She completed a 5-year Religious Education program at UCCB and was involved in the Religion Program for children at St. Michael’s Parish for 13 years. She also served on most parish ministries.

She and her husband Buddy were avid Amateur Radio Operators and she continued with the lifetime hobby. Their call letters were VE1WF and VE1VR.

She was employed at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital in the X-Ray and EKG Departments prior to working as School Secretary at St. Michael’s Elementary, Lakevale Elementary and New Victoria School.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed travelling to visit her children and grandchildren in addition to her many trips to warmer climates with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Ranelda (George Detienne) Halifax, NS; son Charles (Carolee), Oakville, ON; grandchildren Adam (Beth) Detienne, Amanda, Kristen, and Ryan Abraham; and great-grandchildren Weston and Miles Detienne. She is also survived by her brother Raymond Boutilier, New Waterford; brother-in-law Sam Abraham, New Waterford; sisters-in-law Isabel Rose, Surrey, BC and Vicky Boutilier, New Waterford; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Leona Burke and Geraldine MacKinnon; brother Russell Boutilier; sister-in-law Frances Boutilier; and brothers-in-law Peter MacKinnon and Joseph Burke.

As per her request cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation and a service will take place at a later date.
