It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Angus “Sonny“ MacDonald on December 2, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mary (Sampson) MacDonald.
Sonny served his country in Nunavik from January 1956 to February 1959 stationed out of Trenton, Ontario. He was also a member of the pipefitters union Local 682 for 40 years.
Sonny is survived by his daughters Brenda (Johnny), Karen (Richard), Wendy (Don), Rana (Dario), Heather (Ross); brothers Frankie (Linda), Sylvester (Jan), Phillip (Helen), Bernie (Katie); sister Elaine (Henry); companion Louise Kaizer; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Jeanette.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 2-4, 7-9. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Josephs Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent street, All are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford. Donations in Sonny’s name can be made to the Palliative Care.
