It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Arthur Alexander Fraser on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Meat Cove, Victoria County, he was the son of the late Ronald and Florence (MacKinnon) Fraser. Art worked as a pipe fitter for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, gardening and he had a love for hockey especially the Montreal Canadiens, he played for the New Victoria Eagles and even went on to coach minor hockey for many years. Art adored his 8 grandchildren and had a love for them that was unmatched. He is survived by his wife Karen (Nearing), son Brian (Leslie), New Brunswick, daughters Brenda (Tim) FitzPatrick, Charlottetown, Lynn (Bruce) Oakley, Dartmouth, Bernadette Fraser, Kentville, sisters Betty, Patricia, Hattie and Evelyn, brothers Joey, New Victoria and David, B. C. Art is also survived by his grandchildren James, Alexander, Rose, Clare, Isabelle, Benjamin, Maxwell and Ewan. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Catherine. Cremation has taken place. There will be a funeral mass held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in the Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport at 11 a.m with Father Daniel J. Boudreau officiating and a luncheon will be held in the church basement immediately following the mass. Burial at St. Michaels Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. There will be no flowers by Art’s request. Donations in Arthur’s memory can be made to the An Cala, Palliative Care Unit or the Cancer Patient Care Fund, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation.
