A devoted educator, Ann taught students in Halifax, Glace Bay, Montreal, and Ft. McMurray for many years. She was later employed as a Heritage Interpretation Specialist with Parks Canada for the remainder of her career. A member of the Old Sydney Society and Louisbourg Volunteers Association, she enjoyed her work as a volunteer upon her retirement. Ann was a devotee of the arts and spent many hours working with theatrical groups in her younger years.

Also surviving, are her sisters; Margie, Toronto, Joan and Diane, Montreal; brothers Louie, Lingan, Scott, Halifax and Alex, Sydney. Ann also has a large extended family including many cousins, nieces and great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her only son Sean Coleman; brothers John Allan, Danny, Michael, Robert, Carl, Peter, William; and her sisters Rosemarie, Sandra, and Kathleen.

Special thanks to the nursing staff on Floor 3A at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, family physician Dr. Susan MacLeod, the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON), The Canadian Red Cross (Sydney), first responders with Emergency Health Services, and Sgt. Best and Officer Glen Ford of the Cape Breton Regional Police Force for their assistance to the family.
