Obituary:It is with broken hearts that we announce the peacefully passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Denis Pilon, on March 15, 2012, at home, surrounded by his loving family.Born in Grenville, Quebec, he was the son of the late Orphir and Agnes(Larocque) Pilon. Denis was miner, a soldier, and a construction
worker. He loved to work in his garden, to cook and to bake. Denis made the best pies in Cape Breton. Family was very important to him. He loved each and everyone equally. Denis is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Cassie ( MacDonald) Pilon, his daughters, Barbara Gillis, Judy ( Russell) Fraser, Sheila MacEachern, and Denise(Donald) Morrison, all of New Waterford; his sister Simone Lalonde, Ont., his brother, Gerard, Ont., his grandchildren, Tammy, Danette, Michael, Raymond, Melanie and Haley, and great grandchildren Jeremy, Brooklyn, Breagh and Joseph Denis. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son in infancy, Denis, a great granddaughter Rebecca MacKinnon, in infancy, a sister Jane and brothers, Roger, George, Roland, Leon, Raymond, Wilfred, Orphir, and Omar.Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500. A funeral mass to celebrate Denis' life will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10am in the Parish of Saint Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave., with Father Victor Ozoufuanya and Deacon Leo Penny officiating, followed by interment in Saint Michael's Cemetery. A
luncheon to follow at Saint Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent St., New Waterford. Donations can be made to Pallative Care or the Cancer Patient fund, Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
